Lowkey one of the best filter coffee spots in Sydney. Super chill vibes, minimal interior, and you can feel the baristas’ love for their craft, and they’re always happy to share more about the beans. I tried the Panama Jamison Estate and it hit different - bright citrus, tea vibes, clean. You can tell they care about the details, from the tasting notes to the whole experience. Perfect place if you just wanna zone out with a really good brew. 10/10 would recommend if you’re into specialty coffee and soft lighting.

This café offers seriously good coffee in a stylish, minimalist setting. Arriving a few minutes before their 8:30 AM opening, we found ourselves among a growing line of eager customers. While the service was a bit slow, the sunlit tables and laid-back vibes made the wait enjoyable. However, there was a mix-up with our order. We initially received a cold matcha latte instead of the hot one we requested. Although we were told we could keep the cold drink, another staff member later took it back when delivering the replacement. This situation felt awkward, especially since it stemmed from their error. Additionally, after ordering two drinks, we were informed the signature drink we wanted wasn’t available, leaving the impression they were encouraging us to buy another. While this didn’t ruin the experience, it’s an area where service could improve to avoid making customers feel uneasy. That said, the staff were otherwise friendly and pleasant. On the food front, we tried two cheese toasties: the black garlic cheese toastie ($14) and the Korean-style pork belly toastie ($22). Both were hearty, well-constructed, and satisfying. Despite the hiccup, this café is a lovely spot to start your day. If only they opened on Sundays…

Pillar By Night is a charming little coffee shop that blends creativity with comfort, making it a delightful spot to unwind. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with a stylish yet relaxed design that makes you feel at ease the moment you walk in. Matcha & Drinks One of the highlights here is their matcha, prepared with care and offering that smooth, earthy richness that matcha lovers appreciate. It’s balanced, flavorful, and feels like a real treat—perfect whether you’re settling in with a book or catching up with friends. Innovative Cakes The cakes at Pillar By Night are not only delicious but also visually stunning. A standout is their snowflake-inspired cake, which looks like a piece of edible art. The delicate design hides layers that burst with flavors, offering both a feast for the eyes and the palate. It’s the kind of dessert that makes you pause to admire it before diving in, and then leaves you smiling with each bite. Service & Vibe The staff are friendly and attentive, adding warmth to the whole experience. They’re quick to help and happy to recommend favorites, making the visit feel personal. Combined with the cozy setting, it’s the kind of café where you’ll want to linger a little longer. ⸻ In short: Pillar By Night is a cozy coffee shop with excellent matcha, stunningly innovative cakes like their snowflake creation, and genuinely friendly service. A perfect little spot to enjoy both artistry and comfort in one visit.

First Iced Matcha Latte that I’ve actually liked. The cappuccino tasted different, perhaps it’s the scent’s sweetness. Either way I enjoyed it. Reasonably priced given such a nice atomosphere. Enjoyed the soft jazz playing. Definitely a local gem. Might come back to get an iced latte and some food.

Came here for a coffee recently! Was in the area for work. This is the best coffee I’ve ever had in the area. Specialty coffee and definitely lives up to the billing. Located down a little back alley near the shopping centre. Not the easiest to find. Lovely fit out and vibe in the cafe. Loved it- will be back whenever I’m in the area.

We felt so welcomed by Jackie. The coffee and drinks were incredible. She is the best barista. There was also an amazing photography exhibition that she curated and photographed! It's called Home Kong. Highly recommend.

Pillar Burwood serves up delicious coffee—smooth, rich, and consistently good. The ambience is top notch, with a modern, cozy feel that makes it a great place to relax or catch up with friends. Service is okay, though at times the staff seem a bit too busy with each other, which can make it feel slightly inattentive. That said, it’s still a solid spot overall and worth visiting for the coffee and atmosphere.
